Major ruling party leaders from the TMC are now trailing behind the BJP in West Bengal as vote counting continues for all 293 constituencies.
In Diamond Harbour, a TMC stronghold, the TMC’s Panna Lal Halder is trailing behind BJP’s Dipak Kumar Halder with a margin of 2,580 votes.
The BJP is currently leading in about 187 seats in the state, crossing the majority mark.
A BJP leader in Nandigra, meanwhile, said that the TMC is struggling to get a lead in some booths in the constituency.
BJP candidate Lakshmi Kanta Sau was leading in Jhargram with 5,156 votes, ahead of TMC's Mongal Saren, who secured 4,180 votes, trailing by 976 votes.
A BJP leader was also leading vote counts in Kolkata over the TMC candidate and minister, Shashi Panja.
The saffron party was also leading in several other constituencies, including Dinhata, Gosaba, Baghmundi, Bankura, Durgapur Purba, Binpur, Nayagram, Rajganj and Bhagwangola, indicating early gains across regions.
The party is very close to reaching a majority in the state that had been under TMC rule since 2011.
TMC’s Shashi Panja is trailing by votes in Shyampukur.
Trinamool's Kunal Ghosh is trailing by 330 votes in Beleghata.
BJP's Agnimitra Pal is leading by votes in Asansol, while Tapas Banerjee is trailing.
TMC candidate Nayana Banerjee is leading by 6,000 votes in Chowringhee.
TMC Minister Udayan Guha, Sahina Momtaz Khan are both trailing from Dinhata and the Nowda constituencies
The TMC’s Shreya Pandey is also trailing in the Maniktala constituency.
Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh is trailing in the Belgharia constituency.
