With hours left for the mandate in West Bengal to become clear, Trinamool leader and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called a meeting of counting agents, councillors,  and ward presidents of the Bhabanipur assembly constituency on Sunday evening. According to South Kolkata district Trinamool sources, the meeting will be held at 6:30 pm in the office adjacent to the Chief Minister's Kalighat residence.

Mamata, who is seeking a mandate from the Bhabanipur seat, has invited Trinamool councillors of eight wards under the constituency to the meeting. The presidents of those wards will also be present, according to Anandabazar Patrika.

According to Trinamool sources, the Chief Minister may give instructions to the counting  agents and other party office bearers on the day of counting. Incidentally, on Friday, the  outgoing Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly and BJP candidate from Bhabanipur, Subhendu Adhikari, held an emergency meeting with party workers. The meeting was held at the BJP office in Orphanganj.

Bhabanipur has been at the centre of discussion due to the high-profile candidates. The fight was reminiscent of the battle witnessed in Nandigram last year, which saw Mamata being defeated by Subhendu. There is curiosity in all quarters whether Subhendu will succeed like last time in Kolkata, especially with the Trinamool.

Mamata and Abhishek Banerjee held a virtual meeting with the party's counting agents on Saturday afternoon. All the party candidates and important leaders also attended the meeting. According to Trinamool sources, Mamata-Abhishek gave a set of instructions to the counting agents regarding the counting of votes. Trinamool has already appointed district observers to monitor the counting process.
