An eighth-standard student at a school in Sneh Vihar Bhondsi, Gurugram, is now forced to live on a liquid diet after three teachers and the principal of his school allegedly beat him till he fractured his jaw.

Doctors say that the 12-year-old boy has now been advised to remain on a liquid diet.

Police say the student is undergoing treatment at a Civil hospital in Sector 10A.

Medical examinations revealed that there were fractures to the child’s left jaw joint and roots which resulted in significant swelling and severe pain that prevented him from eating.

The incident came to light on January 28 when school authorities called and informed the boy’s mother of the injury.

She found that her son had been repeatedly slapped, Hindustan Times reported.

She filed a police complaint, and an FIR was registered on Wednesday at Bhondsi police station against the principal and the three teachers for common intention, voluntarily causing hurt .

“Doctors at the civil hospital put him on a liquid diet due to extreme pain and facial swelling, which made him incapable of eating anything,” the mother alleged.

She said that her son still had severe swelling and is suffering from excruciating pain even after a fortnight, and that recovery might take a month.

A senior police officer said that the injuries were consistent with an assault that took place inside the school premises.

He also said that the school did not provide CCTV footage, claiming the the cameras were non-functional.

School vice principal Aman Yadav, however, denied the assault and said that the mother of the student may have inflicted the injuries later. He also said that the boy had abused the principal on Instagram and stolen from the canteen.

Gurugram police spokesperson Sandeep Turan said that the hospital’s report is expected by Monday and that action will be taken against the perpetrators soon.
