The suicide of Confident Group chairman C.J. Roy on January 30 continues to provide fresh twists, as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in charge of the case is currently probing the three internet calls he made before his death.

The SIT has not yet revealed the finer details of those internet calls—the latest in a series of mysterious revelations about the business tycoon's life, as per a Manorama News report.

Mollywood actress Maya Menon, who has acted in films like Mayanadhi, Vijay Superum Pournamiyum, and Wolf, has also spoken out about Roy.

She attacked people for comparing his death with the 2019 suicide of Sajan Parayil, a businessman who had hung himself to death, saying that the two cases were very different, and that remarks could only be made about Roy once the mystery behind his death was cleared.

She also claimed that Roy was a person who was able to influence the government and the media by spending money until his death, while Sajan was allegedly a man who walked a straight path and did not cheat anyone.

This comes after the SIT also found that he had seen a psychiatrist in Jayanagar on January 29 (the day before his alleged suicide), and had even sought treatment for depression from a Bengaluru hospital after an Income Tax Department raid at Confident Group back in December.

Some media reports also claim that family pressure added to the mix, but THE WEEK could not independently verify this.

The investigation into the 57-year-old's death also aims to find out his mental history, and the extent to which financial pressures—especially the investments from others and the I-T raids—contributed to his decision to allegedly shoot himself with a gun on January 30.

Notably, the SIT has shown that Roy had not been in debt, but had still accepted investments from various political leaders and film industry figures for real estate projects in Dubai and Kerala.

Some investors had even asked for their money back, as they feared the I-T investigation into Confident Group might land them in trouble. This is said to have put Roy in a difficult spot, as it made him unable to account for the sources of many of his transactions.
