BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala has alleged that his mother was seriously injured after a car deliberately rammed into her in Pune in a hit-and-run incident. He urged swift action against the accused.

Poonawala said that an unidentified person intentionally struck his mother with a vehicle and fled the scene. He said she was left critically injured and to undergo surgery shortly, and appealed for prayers for her recovery.

In a post on X, he said that his “mother is one of the kindest & nicest human beings and for her to be subjected to this at this age makes my blood boil and my heart sink."

Along with the posts, he also attached a photograph of his mother at the hospital.

He also tagged senior police officials and political leaders, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the chief minister’s office.

In a reply to the post, the CM’s office expressed remorse over the incident and said that the CM has given instructions to a senior police officer in Pune.

‘CM also spoke to @Shehzad_Ind in detail and wished her a speedy recovery,” The post read.

Meanwhile, Poonawala’s brother Tehseen posted a clip from the CCTV footage of the incident.

The video showed his mother at the gas pump waiting outside the car she was travelling in. A car which was parked nearby reverses slowly and hits her, making her fall.

In a post on X, he said, “Mom has been admitted to the hospital. If her stats are good, hip surgery tomorrow. This is so infuriating that a senior citizen has to undergo this. There was a threat against me, for which there were police & LIB reports, so @PuneCityPolice can do the needful. Deliberate or accidental by a drugged out a**, the investigation will reveal. But my heart hurts my senior citizen mom, who has to undergo this trauma and pain. “
