The Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025 kick-started on Monday at Bharat Future City with a major investment promise from companies affiliated with Donald Trump's family. Addressing the inaugural session, Eric Swider, Director of Trump Media and Technology Group Corp, said the firms he represents will invest a total of Rs 1 lakh crore in the Bharat Future City, a 30,000-acre area in South Hyderabad that Revanth Reddy wants to develop into a net-zero city capable of rivalling Western cities.
Though no specific details were given in his address, Swider promised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy that their companies would invest Rs 1 lakh crore in the next 10 years in the Future City. After Swider's speech, Telangana Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan requested him to inform President Trump that a road was named after him in Hyderabad city adjacent to the US Consulate in Hyderabad. A visibly happy Swider obliged the request.
Besides this, the Telangana government announced formalising 35 major agreements amounting to Rs 1.88 lakh crore in the areas of deep tech, green energy and strategic manufacturing. A total of Rs 3 lakh crore worth of investment deals are expected to be signed at the one-and-a-half-day event. The event also became a promulgation platform for Telangana Vision 2047, a document that set the target of developing the state into a $3-trillion economy by 2047.
In his speech, Revanth Reddy announced that Telangana has taken the Guangdong province of China as its role model. This Chinese province topped China in growth rate for 35 years and recorded the highest growth rate in the world for the last 20 years. “With CURE (Core Urban Region Economy), PURE (Peri Urban Region Economy) and RARE (Rural Agrarian Region Economy), Telangana's rise will become unstoppable,” announced the CM.
As per the Telangana Vision document, while the CURE area within the Nehru Outer Ring Road (ORR) would house only the knowledge economy, service industries and the education sector, the PURE area—situated between the ORR and the Regional Ring Road (RRR)—is supposed to host industries. The Telangana government announced that it would shift all pollution-causing industries to PURE districts. The RARE area is supposed to have only agriculture.
With this summit, Telangana government wants to showcase the Future City to the investors and attract investments for its development. With today's investment announcements, the region could get a much-needed fillip.
