Amid the 600 flight cancellations by IndiGo on Friday, Delhi airport confirmed that the all domestic flights were also cancelled till midnight today.
Friday marks the highest number of flight cancellations by the airlines. Between Tuesday and Wednesday, 200 flights were cancelled. A total of 1,300 flights have been cancelled in the last 48 hours.
IndiGo has warned of continued disruption till December 8.
Delhi saw about 225 flights cancelled on Friday. At Mumbai airports, chaos broke out as all of its flights, about 104, were cancelled till 6 pm.
About 102 flights were cancelled in Bengaluru, according to sources. 75 were cancelled in Hyderabad, 35 in Kolkata, 26 in Chennai till 6 pm and 11 at Goa.
IndiGo Airlines runs over 2200 domestic and international flights daily.
The DCGA is now conducting an inspection at all major airports. Indigo’s operations are also under strict watch by the regulator.
The airline sought an exemption form the new FDTL rules till February 10 2026, to give it time to hire more pilots and crew.
The massive flight cancellations have also caused a surge in fares of for other mainlines like Spicejet and Air India.
To cash in on stranded passengers, carriers have aggressively increased the pricing of several flights.
A low cost SpiceJet was found to be charging 80,00 for a single sector flight on Friday, which usually charges from Rs 500 to 12,000.
An economy class, one-way ticket for a two-stop Air India flight from Hyderabad to Mumbai was found charging Rs 70,329. Another Air India connection from Hyderabad to Bhopal reportedly costs Rs 90,000.
