Amid the bitter face-off in parliament between the ruling and opposition fronts, the Congress has found itself in a fix after a senior party leader shared an AI video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi selling tea on social media, sparking a massive political storm.

The video shared by Congress leader Ragini Nayak showed Modi walking with a kettle and glasses at what appeared to be a red-carpet event.

The BJP reacted sharply, accusing the opposition party of insulting the prime minister. Party leader Shehzad Poonawalla said the Congress was unable to stand a "kamdar" prime minister, who comes from the Other Backwards Community (OBC) and a poor background.

"After Renuka Chowdhury insults Parliament, now Ragini Nayak attacks and mocks PM Modi's Chaiwala background. The Naamdar Congress cannot stand a Kamdar PM from the OBC community who has come from a poor background. They have mocked his Chaiwala background earlier, too. They abused him 150 times. They abused his mother in Bihar," Poonwalla wrote on X on Wednesday.

The controversy came a day after the BJP slammed Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Renuka Chowdhury for their remarks on the row over bringing a dog into the Parliament complex.

Chowdhury stoked controversy with her remarks that "those sitting inside bite, dogs don't", after some MPs objected to her bringing a rescued stray dog in her car in the Parliament complex.

Later, during an informal chat with reporters on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi said that pets are not allowed outside but "inside" and gestured towards the Parliament building.

"The decorum and dignity of Parliament were hurt by the statement made by Rahul Gandhi and Renuka Chowdhury. Both the 'Rs' need to remember that there is an R -- that is 'responsibility of an MP',” BJP MP and national spokesperson Sambit Patra said.
