A Kerala court has remanded rightwing activist Rahul Easwar to judicial custody in a victim identity reveal case related to Congress leader Rahul Mamkootathil sexual assault row. Easwar was taken into police custody from his residence in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
The Thiruvananthapuram district court remanded Easwar to 14 days of custody. Thiruvananthapuram cyber police is likely to Easwar soon for the probe.
Easwar was arrested based on the complaint filed by the victim involved in the Congress leader Rahul Mamkootathil sexual assault case. Easwar vehemently argued in favour of the Congress leader, saying the legislator from Palakkad, Kerala, was innocent and what he had with the victim was a consensual relationship.
In her complaint, the victim alleged Easwar, through videos on social media and in television debates, made statements that revealed her identity, which is against the law. Easwar, while taking part in television debates, argued that the victim hid from the Congress leader that she was a married woman.

Meanwhile, Mamkootathil is on the run ever since the victim registered a formal complaint against the legislator. The victim also met Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The Kerala police have launched a massive hunt for the Congress leader, who went underground while he was campaigning for local body polls in Palakkad. Mamkootathil had maintained he hasn't done anything against the law. Mamkootathil is facing charges for sexual assault and forceful abortion. The Congress leader has moved court for anticipatory bail.
