The Election Commission of India has revised the schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in 12 states and Union territories to extend it by one week.

In the revised notification, the commission extended the deadline for the enumeration to December 11 instead of the earlier date of December 4.

The draft electoral rolls will be published on December 9. The final voter’s list is scheduled for February 14 instead of February 7.

Revised dates for SIR

  • Distribution of enumeration forms till December 11, 2025
  • Draft Electoral Rolls to be published on December 16, 2025
  • Final voters list now scheduled to be on February 14, 2026

The revised schedule also includes:

  • Rationalisation and rearrangement of polling stations by December 11
  • Upgradation of the control table and preparation of the draft roll from December 12 to 15
  • The claims and objections period runs from December 16 to January 15, 2026
  • A notice phase decision on enumeration forms and disposal claims, and objections is to be done concurrently by the EROs from December 16 to February 7

Final checking of electoral rolls and obtaining the commission's permission for the publication will be completed by February 10.

The revised dates came amid many expressing concerns over the time required for the large-scale enumeration exercise.
