A guest speaker invited by St Xavier's College, Mumbai, for a national seminar, has been accused of sexually harassing students.

According to media reports, at least 10 students of the college filed a complaint with the Internal Complaints Committee of the college, alleging sexual harassment. The committee will conduct a detailed investigation into the allegations.

In their complaint, the students accused the guest speaker, who was invited for a national seminar and has been staying on the campus, of clicking their photographs without their consent and brushing past them inappropriately.

After these incidents were brought to the attention of the authorities, the guest speaker was asked to leave the campus premises immediately, although he was scheduled to deliver a session.

The guest speaker's parent university has also been informed about the allegations, a report in The Times of India said.

The college said it follows a zero-tolerance policy toward sexual harassment.

"We stand firmly with our students and their safety is our highest priority," the principal of the college has been quoted as saying.

The police have been informed about the incident, but an FIR is yet to be filed.
