After another phone conversation and WhatsApp chat screenshot accusing him of sexual misconduct and forcing a woman to abort a pregnancy was leaked on Monday, Congress MLA from Kerala's Palakkad constituency Rahul Mamkootathil said that he has not done anything against the law of the land.
"I have the right to proceed legally, and I will proceed with that. The investigation is ongoing. I will decide when to pursue the legal battle. The media is reporting the same thing repeatedly, from various angles. My innocence needs to be proven in court, and I will prove it there," the former Youth Congress state unit chief, who had to step down over the allegations, said.
In the latest recorded phone conversation, the Congress leader was heard abusing the woman while she had an emotional breakdown. He claimed that the one-month pregnant woman was being dramatic when she tried to explain her physical and emotional distress. Kerala-based news television channel News Malayalam 24X7 also released a WhatsApp chat allegedly between the woman and Palakkad MLA in which he was found saying that he wishes to have a child with her and she needs to prepare to become pregnant in March. The Week could not independently verify the authenticity of these files.

Rahul: So you are going to the hospital tomorrow?
Woman: I know the doctor, even my mother is familiar with the person. So I am worried about going there.

Woman: I am unwell and throwing up. I have some concerns about this.

Woman: What drama do you mean? I am unwell and everyone is noticing it. When I went home and saw my mother, I couldn't hold back my tears.

Woman: I can't do it.
Rahul: When I talked about this the other day, you told me the world is not going to end soon and asked for more time. Then nothing happened for three days. You carry on with your chores. Now why are you getting worked up when asked about this again?
Woman: I am speaking in a feeble voice because I am unwell. I’m having a lot of health issues. I can’t eat, I am not liking most smells — there are so many problems, and I can’t even share this with anyone
Rahul: Stop this drama. We all know what happens in the first month of pregnancy. You are putting on an act for no reason.
Woman: You may have seen many people and think you know what the first month is like, but I only know my case.
Rahul: First, you go to the hospital. The rest can wait.
Woman: Whose plan was this pregnancy? Was it mine? Who always wanted to have a baby? Then why are you backing out at the last moment like this? Why are you torturing me like this? I don't think I can go hospital without somebody's help
Rahul: Whose help do you want to visit the hospital?
Woman: I don't know. You have changed a lot. Things were not like this before.
