Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and said the latter would do anything for votes during elections. Targeting Modi, Rahul Gandhi said Modi's dip in the Yamuna River was another "drama" for votes.
Campaigning in Darbhanga for the Bihar Assembly polls, the Congress leader charged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was controlling the Nitish Kumar-led government in the state.
Targeting Modi, Gandhi said Modi would "enact all types of drama for votes". "You try telling him at a poll rally that, Mr Prime Minister, we will vote for you if you dance. He will readily perform Bharat Natyam," Gandhi said.

Calling Modi's plan to take a dip in the Yamuna River for Chhatt Puja as "drama", Gandhi charged that special arrangements were made for the prime minister as the river is extremely unclean. Anybody who drinks Yamuna water "will get sick or die". "You must have seen the drama on TV that Modi was going to take a dip in the Yamuna for Chhath Puja. It was shelved when it was exposed that a puddle had been formed with clean, piped water since the river is so dirty," he said.
Gandhi also targeted Modi over US President Donald Trump's claims of stopping Operation Sindoor, and challenged the prime minister to refute Trump's claims. "Modi is scared of Trump, a far cry from Indira Gandhi, who stuck to her stand on Bangladesh in the face of international pressure," the Congress leader said. Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav was also present during Gandhi's rallies.
