At least 8 people have died and 10 have been injured as incessant rains continue to lash out at Mumbai's Marathwada. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more over the next 48 hours.
The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Beed districts are the worst affected by the flooding. Many parts of the Latur and Dharashiv districts have been washed away, including villages in the Ausa, Killari, Lamjana, Nilanga, and Chakur talukas.

A fresh spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall over Konkan & Goa and Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra is very likely during 25th to 29th September, 2025.
Farmers remain the worst-hit, with losses amounting to approximately Rs 480 crores worth of crops like soybean, sugarcane, maize, and urad.
Amid questions of whether a 'wet drought' (statewide flood declaration) would be declared in the state, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced an aid package worth Rs 2,215 crores for the state, but has not declared a 'wet drought' situation so far.

"So far, the government has decided to provide assistance of Rs 2,215 crores to 31,64,000 farmers. Of this, Rs 1,829 crores has also been disbursed to various districts. The remaining amount will be disbursed over the next 8-10 days," he told the media after a cabinet meeting.
He also added that this time, flood relief efforts would take place alongside the arrival of the Panchnamas (official evidence documents).
17 teams comprising NDRF and SDRF members have been tasked with rescue and relief operations. 27 people have already been evacuated using helicopters, while 200 people have been moved to safe places.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Shiv Sena leader Ajit Pawar are also on their way to affected areas, with Guardian ministers ordered to visit farmers’ settlements and villages in the districts assigned to them to coordinate flood relief efforts.
The Marathwada region, which comprises eight districts, has received 823.8mm of rain, as of Tuesday—a 28.5 per cent increase from the average of 640.8mm till date since June 1 this year, an NDTV report said. Other affected regions of Maharashtra are Western Maharashtra and Vidarbha.
