A survey has predicted the impact of Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj party in the upcoming Bihar general elections and its influence among the youth between 18 and 24 years. This would be Kishor’s first election after the party was launched last year.

According to a survey by Vote Vibe, if Jan Suraaj gets 10 percent votes and eats into 5 percent votes of Mahagadbandhan, then the Congress-led alliance will end up with just 34 per cent votes. This also means that the NDA has 42 per cent votes and a clear edge to retain power.

On the other hand, if Kishor’s party manages to take 5 per cent of the votes of the NDA, this will benefit the Mahagadbandhan. That means the INDI Alliance is expected to get 39 percent votes, while the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led NDA Alliance will only get 37 per cent votes.

The survey also reveals another possibility. If Jan Suraaj cuts 2.5 percent of the vote of both the fronts and another 5 per cent from other fringe parties, this will benefit the NDA. In such a scenario, the NDA is likely to get 39 percent of the votes, and the INDI Alliance will end their run with just  36 percent of the votes.  This means Nitish Kumar returns to power.

The survey also revealed that Kishor’s party could get support from 20 per cent of the youth between the ages of 18 and 24. The party is reportedly planning to field candidates from different castes, which means it can endanger the traditional vote banks of the fronts.

An earlier survey revealed that 20 per cent of respondents believed Jan Suraaj will damage the NDA, 18 per cent the INDIA bloc, and 35 per cent both alliances.

The JSP is expected to contest on all 243 seats, and hence its impact could be higher. Others feel the LJP is an established party with a core vote and organisation, whereas the JSP is a newbie, and hence, its impact will be lesser.
