Viral videos of the incident showed Congress workers forming a defensive line in front of the party office before deciding to take on the numerically superior BJP workers. Both sides used the long sticks to which their flags were tied to attack each other. Violent swings and tit-for-tat blows were exchanged in plenty as the Congressmen tried to defend the main gate, viral videos showed. The police personnel on the scene were greatly outnumbered, making efforts to prevent the situation from escalating futile.

Meanwhile, one worker was seen gesturing to the defenders of the gate to calm down, even as the two sides continued to rain blows and obscenities at one another. Another video showed the BJP workers kick open the gate later and pour in with their flags — presumably later. However, police reinforcements reached the spot and managed to push them back onto the roads with the use of force, the videos showed.

The BJP decided to hold a protest in front of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee office in Patna against alleged abuses hurled at PM Modi during the Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav-led 'Voter Adhikar Yatra'.
Why Bihar BJP is up in arms against Congress?
A purported video showed an unidentified person using a Hindi expletive against Modi from a dais raised during the yatra in Darbhanga town, from where Rahul Gandhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Vadra, and RJD's Tejashwi Yadav had left for Muzaffarpur on motorcycles.
Later, protest demonstrations were staged in Darbhanga as well as Patna, even as the state women's commission shot off a letter to the administration, seeking "suo motu" action against the culprits.
Effigies of Gandhi and Yadav were burned by BJP workers in Darbhanga, who joined a procession organised by two-term local MP Gopaljee Thakur.
A Congress leader in Darbhanga, who admitted that the viral video was from a podium that he had got erected on the outskirts of the north Bihar town, offered an apology but maintained that the expletives had been hurled in his absence.
"The video appears to have been shot after I left the spot, following Rahul Gandhi, who passed through. I have not yet watched the clip. Still, I offer my apologies if anything of the sort has happened," said Mohd Naushad, who is a worker of the Youth Congress and is said to be eyeing the party ticket from the Jale assembly seat.
