Tainted Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil was on Saturday subjected to fresh accusations with a party official from the state claiming that the politician sent questionable messages to two Kerala Students Union (KSU) women activists, said a report.

In an audio message on the WhatsApp group of Youth Congress Ernakulam District Committee, district secretary Ashiq Karotil claimed that the two activists stopped working for the Congress student wing. He added that the party does not have the obligation or time to justify Rahul's mistakes, according to Asianet News.

Youth Congress Ernakulam District President Cherian George also messaged in the group, saying the two women activists, who were known to 70 per cent of the office-bearers in the district, might have had a bad experience from Rahul.

However, Rahul is drawing flak not just from Ernakulam district. Youth Congress leader from Alappuzha's Haripad, Sneha R.V. said questions would be asked if there are mistakes, adding that she would never stab someone from behind, but would also not be silent.

Speaking to OnManorama, Sneha pointed out that when multiple complaints are raised, it is the moral obligation to investigate and support those who raise their voices. "We are part of an institution led by women leaders like Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. If workers like me do not speak up for fellow women, then who will? What is the point of arguing for a 50:50 representation if we cannot assure safety for one half?" she said.

Earlier in the day, Rahul called a press meet to explain his stance over sexual harassment allegations but later he cancelled it following pressure from senior Congress leaders.

Meanwhile, there is growing pressure on Rahul to step down as Palakkad MLA. He had resigned as Youth Congress state president two days ago.

Malayalam journalist and actor Rini Ann George accused a young politician of sexting her. Though reporters asked her if she was referring to Rahul, she declined to name the leader. Malayalam writer Honey Bhaskaran Rahul of obscene conduct and making derogatory remarks about her. Avanthika, a trans woman, also alllegedthat Rahul messaged her, saying he wanted to 'rape' her and asked her to meet him in Bengaluru or Hyderabad.
