Shama Parveen Anasri, a 30-year-old woman arrested from Bengaluru last month for her alleged links with terrorist organiations, had used multiple social media accounts to propagate extremist ideology among youths, the Gujarat ATS has said.
According to investigators, Parveen was running an online terror module linked to Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), and had shared several inflammatory posts during the recent military confrontation between India and Pakistan.
On May 9, Parveen wrote a Facebook post in which she urged Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir to invade India and unify Muslim lands.
“You have a golden opportunity… adopt Project Khilafat for the implementation of Islam, unify Muslim lands, and march forward to eliminate Hindutva and Zionism… So march forward,” she wrote, reported The Telegraph.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, carrying out airstrikes on the terrorist hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in response to the Pahalgam attack. India’s operation sparked a military conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
The ATS investigation revealed that Parveen had shared several posts and videos on Facebook and Instagram, calling for an Islamic revolution in India.
She had posted a video of Maulana Abdul Aziz of Lahore's Lal Masjid, in which he was seen encouraging Muslims to wage armed struggle to overthrow the Indian government and spread discord in the country based on religious and caste divisions.
In another video, an unknown radical preacher could be heard condemning Indian Muslims for supporting the Army.
Parveen also used to post provocative speeches by AQIS leader Maulana Assim Umar and slain Al-Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki, the ATS claimed.
“The content called for armed revolution or jihad against the Government of India, Ghazwa-E-Hind, terrorist attacks and inciting Indian Muslim youth to carry out violence on non-believers or kafirs,” it said.
Parveen was taken into custody from her residence in RT Nagar area of Bengaluru on July 28 in a coordinated operation by the Gujarat ATS and state police. A native of Jharkhand, she had been living in the city for the last three years.
Her arrest followed the detention of four persons with alleged links to Al Qaeda in Indian Sub Continent (AQIS). Those arrested have been identified as Mohd Faiq from Delhi, Mohd Fardeen from Ahmedabad, Sefullah Kureshi from Modasa in Aravalli, and Zeeshan Ali from Noida.
