An earthquake of magnitude 3.7 on Friday struck Haryana's Jhajjar, sending tremors all the way to the National Capital Region (NCR).

This makes it the second earthquake to hit Haryana this week.

The quake originated at a depth of 10km below the surface at 7:49 PM, according to an announcement from the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

Just a day ago, a 4.4 magnitude earthquake had struck Haryana's Jhajjar at 9:04 AM, with tremors again jolting Delhi-NCR, the neighbouring Rohtak and Gurugram districts, Panipat, Hisar and Meerut.

"The people seem to be scared. The epicentre was also said to be Jhajjar ... Today, too, we felt the tremors. We will pray to God to bless us," said a local from Jhajjar to ANI.

"I felt earthquake tremors. I don't fear death, but we can't do much in case of natural disasters. We can only take precautions," pointed out Arjun, a local from Delhi.

According to the NCS, the Thursday earthquake's epicentre was located 3km North-east of Jhajjar and 51km West of Delhi, at a depth of 10km.

"It was a strong jolt. I think this is the first time in my life that it felt so strong," said an elderly man in Jhajjar, as per a PTI report. "Many rushed out of their homes when the tremors hit."

Tremor-affected neighbourhoods in Delhi were soon gripped by panic, which led people to gather out in the open. People ran out of their homes—many of them barefoot and still in their nightwear.

The National Capital Region falls within Seismic Zone IV, making it fairly prone to earthquakes generally occurring in the range of 5-6 magnitude (but 7-8 occasionally). This is because this zone has a fairly high seismicity, as per the Delhi Disaster Management Authority. The zoning, however, is continues to change from time to time, as per an NDTV report.
