On its official handle on X, Air India announced two relief flights for next of kin of passengers and Air India staff—one flight each from Delhi and Mumbai, to Ahmedabad.

Flight IX1555 will leave Delhi for Ahmedabad at 2300 hrs on Thursday, June 12. On its return leg, the flight will be designated as IX1556. It will leave Ahmedabad for Delhi at 0110 hrs on Friday, June 13.

Flight AI1402 will leave Mumbai for Ahmedabad at 2300 hrs on Thursday, June 12. The return flight, designated AI1409, will leave Ahmedabad for Mumbai at 0115 hrs on Friday, June 13.

The airline’s advisory said that the next of kin of passengers and staff based in Delhi and Mumbai who would like to travel on these flights should call the Air India hotline: 1800 5691 444.

“Those coming in from international destinations and wanting to travel can call our hotline on +91 8062779200,” the post said.

Additionally, N. Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons, had announced on X that the Tata Group will provide ₹1 crore to the families of every victim of the ill-fated AI 171. He added that the group will cover the medical bills of everyone injured, which might include those on the ground.

Finally, Chandrasekaran’s post promised support for rebuilding the hostel of BJ Medical College, into which the flight has crashed. Most of the injured listed in the release by the Ahmedabad Police are presumed to be from the medical college’s hostel for undergraduates.

Only one person from AI 171 has survived, according to reports from the ground. Ramesh Viswashkumar seated on 11A was miraculously able to walk away from the crash site. He is a British citizen who was flying to London Gatwick on the ill-fated Boeing Dreamliner.
