In a crackdown against terrorist activities, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday booked 23 terror associates under the Public Safety Act in Srinagar.
The accused have been detained and lodged in the district jails of Poonch, Udhampur and Kot Balwal, Jammu.
Police in a statement said that "decisive action against subversive and criminal elements inimical to the security and public order of the nation, Srinagar police has booked 23 terror associates of proscribed terror outfits involved in subversive activities and miscreants involved in public disturbance under the PSA."

The accused were nabbed after obtaining detention orders from the District Magistrate of Srinagar based on the police's report.
Several criminal cases were registered against the detained individuals. "They did not mend their ways even after getting bail from the courts. They were brazenly involved in the disturbance of public order, criminal and subversive activities against the nation," a police spokesperson was quoted by PTI.
The crackdown comes as an aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 people were killed. Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
Also, Jammu and Kashmir Police's State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted raids in 11 locations in Kashmir. According to the officials, these raids were conducted in connection with the investigation of cases registered under various sections of the UA(P) Act.
Preliminary investigation by the team has revealed that these terror associates, those detained by the police as part of the crackdown, were actively engaged in terror conspiracy, propagating and furthering anti-India narratives aimed at inciting communal hatred, and public disorder.
