Telangana CM Revanth Reddy on Wednesday met Tamil Nadu government’s delegation in Delhi and accepted an invitation to attend the all-party meeting against the Centre’s proposed delimitation. Flanked by DMK MP Kanimozhi, he spoke to the media and said that he would support Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin’s initiative to take on the centre. He said that the BJP was out to seek revenge with South India and he wants other parties to stand up to them.
“We are not going to accept it (delimitation); We pay more taxes than north India,” he said. “The BJP wants to settle the score against South India because they never allowed it to grow. In Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Karnataka they have been defeated and they don’t have any representation in Andhra Pradesh. That's why they want to settle scores. This is called vendetta politics… they are conspiring against the south.”
Revanth Reddy said that the state Congress will organise an all-party meeting soon in the state with regional players and take their opinion on the issue. “We will invite parties including the BJP in the south. I have told my Deputy CM to invite Kishan Reddy since he is Telangana BJP president and he has to raise his voice in the cabinet. Because it is going to affect our fundamental rights.”
The DMK has invited representatives of various political parties to meet in Chennai on March 22 to discuss the issue. Kanimozhi said that the delimitation would not just affect the entire south but also northeast states and explained that the party’s supremo M.K. Staline felt it was imperative to unite the opposition.
Talking about the Telangana CM she said, “…And today we have met the Telangana Chief Minister who has always been championing this cause. The Chief Minister has been talking about state rights and cautioning about the issues of delimitation. So, our Chief Minister has asked us to invite him since he will be a strong voice to join us and take up this issue.”
A DMK delegation also met YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President YS Jagan in Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh and invited him to the all-party meeting.
