Amid ambiguity over his political career, Nishant Kumar, son of JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has cleared his stance about the party's next chief minister face.
When asked about RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and Jan Suraaj leader Prashant Kishore's statements about his father's health, Nishant told reporters on Sunday that his father's health was 100 per cent fine. "Let us take him before the public. Let them judge and find out the truth. He is absolutely healthy. He can easily remain CM for five years."
Nishant said his father was undertaking many journeys, including Pragati Yatra, and has travelled to 38 districts. "He was seen with the PM and the President. The public knows the truth. He can remain CM for the next five years," the CM's son added.

He also dismissed allegations by the opposition that the BJP was sidelining the JD(U), especially after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the NDA's CM face. Though Nishant had earlier demanded that the NDA declare its CM face, he said on Wednesday that it was understood to everyone that Nitish was the NDA's CM face.
"People will sit together and make a decision. There is still time for the election which is due only in October-November. When the time is right, JD(U) will declare my father as the candidate. Then, the NDA will do it," Nishant said.
Nishant, however, downplayed questions regarding his political entry. To the question on the posters that appeared which read "Bihar calls Nishant Kumar," the Chief Minister's son replied with a smile and nod. He, however, clapped back at Tej Pratap Yadav's statement that he should join RJD, by stating that "only Tej knows why he said that".

He also hailed his father's rule, stating Bihar had gained a lot from him. "A lot has been done in the last 19 years. Be it roads, electricity, education or health, there is development in every sector. Flyovers are being built, people are opening private hospitals and law and order have improved. Now people buy cars which they were afraid to do earlier," he said.
Nishant said though he respected Lalu Prasad Yadav, who was like his uncle, it was 'jungle raj' before 2005. "The public knows what was there before and what is there now. "
He added that his father just wants to work for the people. "Last elections, he just won 43 seats, but his focus remained the same. This time, he should win more seats," said Nishant.
