The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday accused the Centre of trying to cover up the stampede incident at the New Delhi railway station, that claimed 18 lives and left several injured.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh at a press conference said that the Centre is not giving out the exact toll numbers related to the incident. Singh added that some people are claiming that the number of dead was more than what has been announced officially.

Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Sanjay Raut said at least 120 people were killed in the New Delhi Railway Station stampede.
"They are trying to deny that such an incident happened...When will the government and the Railway minister's responsibility be fixed?" asked Singh.
The AAP MP also alleged that an announcement of platform change for trains was the reason behind the stampede.

"It is being said that an announcement was made about a train's platform change from 12 to 14. That was also the cause of the stampede. Was railways not aware that such an announcement may cause a stampede?" Singh asked.
The opposition parties criticised the government for “gross mismanagement” and demanded the resignation of Railway Minister Vaishnaw.
"The railway minister should resign, and apologize to the country," said Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
Rahul Gandhi also criticised the Centre and said the incident once again highlights the failure of the Railways.
Chaos and panic erupted at New Delhi railway station on Saturday night. The incident took place around 10 pm, when hundreds of passengers, many of them Mahakumbh pilgrims crowded at the station.
According to police, the passengers got confused between 'Prayagraj Express and Prayagraj Special'. The delay of four other trains, headed to Prayagraj caused another unexpected overcrowding.
