After securing a decisive victory in the Delhi Assembly elections in 2025, BJP is set to return to power after over 26 years. BJP managed to unseat almost all major AAP leaders including former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and former deputy CM Manish Sisodia.
BJP won 48 out of the 70 seats, with AAP facing a major setback by securing just 22 seats.
While addressing the party workers in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit out at AAP saying, “AAP came with a promise of change in politics but turned out to be the most dishonest party.”

The party turned out of anti-corruption turned out to be the most corrupt, he added.

The BJP secured a vote share of 45.56 per cent and won the elections. While the vote share came down for AAP from 53.57 per cent in 2020 polls to 43.57 per cent. By securing 67 and 62 seats in 2020 and 2015 respectively, AAP won a massive mandate.
Though Congress did not manage to win any seats, the grand old party saw a slight improvement of 2.1 per cent in its vote share.

Criticising AAP, Modi said that governance is not a stage for theatrics and propaganda.
“I guarantee that the CAG report on the AAP government will be placed in the first session of the new Delhi assembly...Those who hatched conspiracies to hide their scams will have to repay,” he said.
PM Modi’s promises for Delhi
1. While thanking the voters, PM Modi assured Delhiites that his government will be working to make Delhi, one of the best urban infrastructure facilities.
2. Though it’s time-consuming and difficult, will make river Yamuna the identity of Delhi.
3. Will fulfill the promises made to women as they have always blessed me.
4. Will make Delhi a “future-ready city” by addressing issues including broken roads, heaps of garbage, overflowing sewers and polluted air problems.
5. The stalled welfare schemes of the Centre will be implemented.
“People of Delhi have made it clear they are real owners of Delhi, they have rejected those who treated it as their property...They have short-circuited the politics of short-cuts,” said Modi.
