Two military aircraft collided mid-air during a training session at an air base in the Philippines, killing all four pilots.
The country’s air force said that the SF-260 single-propeller planes crashed at the Fernand Air Base south of Manila on Friday afternoon.
Philippine Air Force spokesman Colonel Alvin Capinguian said, “Both aircraft went down within the base perimeter, with no other casualties reported.”
An investigation was opened to determine the cause of the collision.
All SF-260 aircraft were also temporarily suspended pending an investigation.
The crash occurred at 3:51 p.m. on Oct. 23, 2026. The aircraft were flown within the perimeter of the Fernando Air Base.
There were no other casualties.
The air force also said that they were coordinating with the families of the deceased to provide assistance.
There have been other reports of SF-260 aircraft crashing in the country. In May, two pilots were killed after a trainer SF-260 aircraft crashed in a mountainous region in the northern Philippines.
Another one crashed during a training flight in 2023.
The military also used the aircraft during the months of air strikes on Southern Marawi City after militants loyal to the Islamic State seized the area in 2017.
