The survivors of sexual abuse by suspended JD(S) MLA Prajwal Revanna included members and leaders of his own party if media reports are to be believed.
According to a News Minute report, residents in Hassan district said among the women whose explicit video clips with Prajwal Revanna were leaked were female leaders of his own party, the JD(S).
Other survivors included professionals and public officials apart from those who worked at the Revanna household.
Some of the survivors reportedly know each other. Some have faced harassment on social media after the clips were circulated in the district as their faces were clearly visible in those videos.
Even as the survivors have been demanding justice, a senior police officer who has handled cybercrime investigations before has said it is difficult to remove such clips from devices. The only possibility is for the SIT probing the case to issue a warning to people against circulating these videos.
"Law enforcement agencies can sensitise people, point out the risk of sharing the videos and make it very clear that there will be legal consequences if they do so,” TNM quoted the police officer as saying.
Meanwhile, one of the survivors asked politicians in Karnataka not to politicise the issue.
“Please do not politicise our hapless state. Our lives have been ruined by these demons. But making it an election issue will not make you (politicians) any less a demon than our perpetrators,” News18 quoted a woman, who filed a police complaint against Prajwal Revanna and his father H.D. Revanna as saying.
