The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad on Monday arrested a 30-year-old man from Navi Mumbai allegedly for sharing sensitive information with Pakistan Intelligence Operative in exchange for money.

The accused reportedly shared information about restricted areas in the country with a Pakistan-based intelligence operative (PIO), the ATS said. The anti-terror agency said the accused had been talking to a woman on social media for several months and the accused allegedly started following the Pakistan agent’s orders.

The accused was working at a place sensitive to the security of the country. The perpetrator shared important information with the accused woman in exchange for money, the Maharashtra ATS said in a release.

He reportedly shared information about restricted areas in India with the Pakistan agent, it said.

A case has been registered against the man and the PIO and the Navi Mumbai unit of ATS is conducting further probe into it, the anti-terror agency said.
