The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday issued a second summons to Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra in an alleged foreign exchange violation case.

The former MP has been asked to depose at the central agency's office in Delhi on March 11. The ED wants to record her statement under the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has already conducted a preliminary investigation into the allegations against Moitra based on the reference from Lokpal.

Moitra had earlier skipped the summons issued by the central agency asking her to appear before it on February 19.

The TMC leader was expelled from Lok Sabha in December following the recommendations of the parliament's ethics committee over the cash-for-query allegations against her raised by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey.

Dubey had accused Moitra of accepting gifts from businessman Darshan Hiranandani for asking questions in parliament targeting the Adani Group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
