CCTV footage linked with assailants involved in the murder of INLD chief Nafe Singh Rathee and his aide has surfaced and the police have registered a FIR against four persons in the case. The INLD and Rathee’s family have accused the state government of failing to provide him security despite repeated requests.

The Haryana police have registered an FIR against 12 persons including former MLA Naresh Kaushik, Ramesh Rathee, Sathish Rathee, and Rahul in connection with the assassination and police are checking all CCTV visuals to identify the assassins, Hindustan Times reported. In the CCTV visuals, four persons are seen travelling in an i10 car moments before the attack.

The FIR also mentions five unnamed people.. The case has been registered under various IPC sections, including that of murder. Nafe Singh Rathee's family has refused to cremate his body until those behind the murder were arrested.

Rathee was killed after unidentified gunmen ambushed his SUV at Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district on Sunday evening. The miscreants came in a car and fired indiscriminately at Rathee’s vehicle near the railway crossing at Bahadurgarh, killing him immediately. A party worker, who was travelling with Rathee, also lost his life in the attack, while two others suffered serious injuries.

Rathee's son Jitendra Rathee told ANI, "We demand police and administration to arrest all the accused as early as possible. My father has been requesting security for five years. There were continuous inputs from CID; my father kept raising issues against the government and this is the reason why he was shot dead.”

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said that not a single culprit involved in this case will be spared. “Police have been instructed to arrest the accused as soon as possible and take strictest action,” he said. Home Minister Anil Vij said he spoke to officials and ordered them to take immediate action in the matter.

Meanwhile, the Congress charged that it was a political murder and demanded a court-monitored CBI probe in the case. Senior Congress leader Raghuvir Singh Kadian said in the Haryana Assembly, "It is a political murder and the first such incident in Haryana after it was carved out as a separate state (in 1966).” The Assembly on Monday paid homage to Rathee.
