Congress MP Manish Tewari, on Sunday, refuted media reports that he is considering joining the BJP.

Media reports had earlier said the Congress leader was in touch with BJP leadership. However, Tewari dubbed such reports as "baseless" and "unfounded."

"The speculation that he will join the BJP is baseless and unfounded," the Congress MP's office clarified, according to an India Today report. "Manish Tewari is in his constituency and looking after development work there. Last night, he stayed at a Congress worker's home," the statement from the office further said.

The clarification from Tewari came even as another senior leader, former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath, refused to confirm or deny rumours that he would switch to the saffron side.

Nath, a nine-time MP from Chhindwara and currently MLA from the seat, was removed as the party's state president following the Congress' poor performance in the November assembly polls. He is said to be disgruntled over not getting a Rajya Sabha berth and also Rahul Gandhi has been opposed to him since the party lost the assembly polls late last year.

Nath has been in Delhi since Saturday afternoon. When media persons asked about him changing sides, Nath had said if there would be any such thing, he would inform the media first.
