Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah on Thursday supported the Congress party’s decision to skip the Ayodhya Ram Mandir consecration event and charged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sangh Parivar were disrespecting Lord Ram by using the event for political propaganda.
In a tweet on social media platform X, Siddaramiah said, “AICC president @kharge, senior leader of our party Sonia Gandhi and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, who are not participating in the Ramlalla inauguration program to be held in Ayodhya, are correct in their decision, which I support.” The Karnataka chief minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sangh Parivar leaders have disrespected Sri Ram and the 140 crore people by turning a religious event, which should be conducted with devotion into a political propaganda campaign.
“It is a tragedy that the Ramlalla inauguration programme, which was supposed to be a programme to unite all Hindus, became a programme to divide Hindus due to BJP's politics,” Siddaramiah said. He charged that the prime minister doesn’t have the confidence to face elections to by presenting his government’s achievements hence he is hurriedly inaugurating Ram Mandir.
“We are not against Hinduism, we are against untouchability, casteism, bigotry and corruption in the name of religion. We are totally against using religion for politics,” Siddaramiah said. He added, “I and our party are committed to the wish of the Constitution to make the society a garden of peace for all races.”
