Mohan Yadav takes oath as MP CM, says will follow PM Modi's footsteps

Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda too sworn in as deputy chief ministers

Mohan Yadav took oath as chief minister of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday at an event attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the chief ministers of BJP-ruled states among others. Yadav, an MLA from Ujjain South, is the state's fourth OBC chief minister.

Besides Yadav,  Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda too were sworn in as deputy chief ministers. 

Before going for the oath ceremony, Yadav visited a temple in Bhopal and the state BJP office to pay respects to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, one of the founding members of the Jana Sangh, and BJP's founding ideologue Syama Prasad Mookerjee.

"I belong to Raja Vikramaditya's town (Ujjain) who was known for good governance. The oath ceremony will take place in the presence of the world's most popular leader - Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I welcome Modi ji, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda and various Union ministers and chief ministers (of other states) on the soil of Madhya Pradesh," Yadav said.

Yadav added that he will follow in the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Madhya Pradesh will follow the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I come from the land of King Vikramaditya and I am committed to the progress of the state and fulfil the aspirations of crores of citizens of Madhya Pradesh. We will see the same good governance that existed during the rule of King Vikramaditya," Mohan Yadav told reporters.

Asked about his priorities, Yadav said,  "We will focus on progress in education, health, employment (sectors) and development in all other areas in the state under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi ji."

He added that it was a matter of pride that Chief Ministers of 11 states are attending the swearing-in-ceremony.

Madhya Pradesh deputy chief minister Jagdish Devda too expressed his joy at the appointment. "Our state moves forward and we will do everything that will lead to the progress of the state. PM Modi is the heart of MP and MP is in the heart of PM Modi. BJP is capable of giving a big responsibility to a simple party worker...It can happen only in this party," Devda told reporters.
