J&K police recover grenades, pistols and IED from package delivered near police station using drone

The J&K police on Thursday recovered arms and ammunition from a box dropped near a police station in Akhnoor reportedly using drone. Police are inquiring.

According to police, they recovered nine grenades, a pistol, 38 rounds and one IED fitted with batteries from the box. Police found the box during a search operation in Palanwallah, near LoC. Police are investigating.

PTI quoting police reported, “The box raised suspicion and the bomb disposal squad was called. An improvised explosive device (IED), a pistol, two magazines, 38 rounds of ammunition and nine grenades were found.” According to police, they believe the box was dropped using a drone for use by terrorists. “The box in which the arms and explosive material were kept is similar to what had been dropped by terrorists based across the LoC in the past,” police said. 

Khour police have registered a FIR and they are investigating, police said.
