The Congress revised its candidate list for four constituencies in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. This comes as the party faced rebellion and opposition from party workers and ticket aspirants on several seats.

The revised candidate list includes Sumawali, Pipariya, Badnagar and Jaora constituencies. While Ajab Singh Kushwaha replaced Kuldeep Sikarwar in the Sumawali constituency, Virendra Belvanshi will be the party's candidate in Pipariya, a SC constituency, instead of Guru Charan Khare.

Murli Morwal will be in the fray from Badnagar instead of Rajendra Singh Solanki while Virendra Singh Solanki will replace Himmat Shrimal in Jaora.

However, the revised list has made no mention of any changes in the Amla constituency in Betul district where the Congress planned to field former IAS official Nisha Bangre. However, with Bangre, who was the deputy collector at Betul, not getting the government nod in time to quit service, the ticket went to Manoj Malve.

Bangre has approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking direction from the government for speedy acceptance of her resignation, which she tendered on June 22. The state finally accepted her resignation after four months on Monday night, but by then Bangre had missed her Congress ticket.

However, Bangre told ANI on Wednesday that she will meet Congress state chief Kamal Nath. "During my struggle, the Congress stood with me. The party was with me even when I was arrested. They had assured me that they would wait for my resignation. So, I would like to meet Kamal Nath and ask him about his stand as now I have resigned. I am now independent to fight for the people," Bangre added.

She reiterated that she would fight the elections and would file the nominations on time.

Meanwhile, JD(U) became the third INDIA bloc party to field a candidate in the Assembly elections. Besides JD(U), the SP and AAP had also announced candidates.

According to a statement issued by JD(U) national general secretary Afaq Ahmed Khan on Tuesday, this is the party's first list of candidates for Madhya Pradesh.

The five candidates are Chandra Pal Yadav (Pichhor), Ram Kunwar Raikwar (Rajnagar), Shiv Narayan Soni (Vijay Raghavgarh), Tol Singh Bhuria (Thandla) and Rameshwar Singla (Petalawad).

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the JD(U) supremo, had snapped ties with BJP a year ago and was significant in forming the multi-party INDIA coalition.

The SP and the AAP have come out with separate lists of candidates for the polls in the BJP-ruled state.
