Modi to have dinner with 450 Delhi cops who took 'extra pains to ensure fail-proof G20 arrangements'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have dinner with 450 Delhi Police officials at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, which was the venue of the G20 Summit, on September 16, to thank them for ensuring the smooth conduct of the summit.

The two-day G20 Summit of world leaders was held on Saturday and Sunday and was attended by more than 30 heads of state and top officials from the European Union, delegates from guest countries, and 14 heads of international organisations.

Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora has reportedly been asked to send names of police personnel from every district who were on summit duty during the weekend and who have “taken extra pains to ensure fail-proof G20 arrangements”.

“The names of police personnel who have performed their duties despite personal debacles, hardships and family problems may be specifically included,” Indian Express quoted an official communique in this regard as saying.

According to media reports, the cops, from constables to inspectors, will have dinner with PM Modi and Arora.

Meanwhile, Arora felicitated the personnel for ensuring the safe conduct of the event.

"The smooth, professional and precise execution of the colossal G20 arrangement, which saw participation, commitment and contribution from the entire rank and file of Delhi Police, was made possible only by the shared sense of pride and ownership in the overall objectives of the mega arrangement by every participant.

"This par excellence camaraderie and commitment deserve appreciation and gratitude in the form of a Commendation Disc, to be manufactured as per the photograph, design and dimensions attached overleaf, by respective Heads of Offices for onward distribution and investiture in a decentralized manner," an order, issued on Monday, read.
