BSP chief Mayawati has put to rest all speculations regarding her party joining either NDA or the Opposition's INDIA, stating that the policies of both parties did not align with the BSP.

"NDA and INDIA alliances comprise mostly of parties that are anti-poor, casteist, communal, pro-rich against whose policies BSP has always fought. So, there is no question of contesting the election by forging an alliance with them," Mayawati said in a post on social media platform X.

She added that BSP will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and state Assembly general elections single-handedly, like in 2007. The BSP chief added that her party would unite crores of neglected sections of society based on mutual brotherhood rather than the jugaad/manipulation of the opponents. "Media should not spread misconceptions again and again," she said.

The former chief minister also urged her party workers to strengthen the organisation by organising small cadre-based meetings at villages to expand the support base among the 'Sarv Samaj.'

She had earlier hinted that the party would face polls alone as "both blocs have done little for the welfare of the Bahujan Samaj and have mostly been busy in breaking and weakening the society by indulging in narrow politics."

The BSP had twice before faced elections in alliance with other parties. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BSP joined hands with the SP against BJP but failed to reap gains. It also faced 2017 assembly polls with Congress but failed to put up a good show.

She had claimed that the BSP had to bear more loss than gain by getting into alliances as its votes clearly got transferred to the alliance partner.

The BSP had recently expelled senior leader Imran Masood, a prominent face of the party in western Uttar Pradesh, for alleged anti-party activities and indiscipline.  Masood, an influential Muslim leader from Saharanpur district, did not attend a meeting of BSP leaders and office-bearers chaired by party chief Mayawati in Lucknow on August 23 and was recently in the news for praising Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
