Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday where he will flag off five Vande Bharat trains. He will also address BJP workers as the party preps for Assembly polls due by the year-end.
"I will be in Bhopal tomorrow, 27th June to take part in two programmes. First, 5 Vande Bharat trains would be flagged off at a programme in Rani Kamalapati railway station. These trains will improve connectivity in Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Bihar and Jharkhand," Modi said in a tweet.
The trains include semi-high-speed Rani Kamalapati (Bhopal)-Jabalpur Vande Bharat Express, Khajuraho-Bhopal-Indore Vande Bharat Express, Madgaon (Goa)-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express, Dharwad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express, and Hatia-Patna Vande Bharat Express.
The Prime Minister also tweeted that he will interact with BJP workers in the state under the 'Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot' programme. "This opportunity will further empower their resolve for a developed India," Modi said. State BJP sources informed that the Prime Minister would interact with over 10 lakh workers virtually.
However, Modi's visit to Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh had to be put off due to heavy rain warnings. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Monday that the Prime Minister had to call off his visit to the tribal-dominated district keeping in mind the inconvenience rain may cause to people coming to attend the events. "A new date for his visit will be announced soon," he added.
Madhya Pradesh is witnessing heavy rains and the India Meteorological Department had issued an orange alert, warning heavy to very heavy and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places till Tuesday morning. A proposed road show of Modi in Bhopal has also been cancelled because of weather conditions.
Modi was initially scheduled to launch the National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission and kickstart the distribution of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana cards. He was slated to honour 16th century warrior queen Rani Durgavati after a yatra organised by the Madhya Pradesh government to popularise her valour and sacrifice.
