Entrepreneur and IPL founder Lalit Modi has hit out at Rahul Gandhi over his controversial 'Modi surname' remark, adding that he will sue the Congress leader and his associates for claiming he was a "fugitive of justice."

In a scathing post on Twitter, the embattled entrepreneur asked "how and when was he ever convicted." Addressing Rahul as 'Pappu,' Modi said "the opposition leaders had nothing else to do" and were "ill-informed or just vendetta prone."

"I have decided to take Rahul Gandhi, at least him, to court in the UK  right away. I am sure he will have to come up with some solid evidence. I look forward to seeing him make a complete #fool of himself," Modi said in his post.

Modi also tagged Congress leaders who he alleged had properties overseas. "I can send addresses and photos etc. Let's not fool the people of India who the real crooks are. Gandhi family has made it as if they are the entitled ones to rule our country. Yes, I will return as soon as you pass stringent liable laws," Modi's tweet read.

He added that there was no proof that he has taken even a penny in the last 15 years. ".. but what has been clearly proven is I created the greatest sporting event in the world which has generated close to 100 billion dollars."

Modi said that he and the Modi family have done more for Congress and the country than they could ever imagine. "I too have done more than can ever dream of doing. So keep barking scam tainted looters of India, like the very own Gandhi family  Jai Hind," his tweet read.

Lalit Modi's response comes days after Rahul Gandhi was convicted in a criminal defamation case over his "why all thieves have Modi surname" comment.

Lalit Modi had in 2019 too threatened to sue Rahul Gandhi for the remark. He also accused the Gandhi family of "daylight looting" of India for five decades.
