A six-year-old girl in Shivpuri of Madhya Pradesh was raped brutally and killed by a minor who is addicted to porn, police have said. The accused boy, said to be 15-years-old, was arrested by the police within 24 hours of the body of the girl being found in Baroda village in Karera of Shivpuri district.
The girl had gone missing on February 10 after she had accompanied her mother to a religious event in the village. Her half-naked body was recovered from a nearby agriculture field on February 11.
The incident led to huge anger in the village and its vicinity. The locals resorted to roadblock after taking out a candle march demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. The district collector Ravindra Kumar Choudhary and Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Chandel visited the village to diffuse the tension and later a reward of Rs 10,000 was announced for information on the accused.
The SP told media persons that the accused teenager, a resident of nearby village Hathras, worked temporarily on a swing set up near the venue of the religious event. He had taken away the girl, who had come to swing alone, by tempting her with biscuits, then raped and strangulated her when she started bleeding profusely and crying.
While there were surmises that the accused had also beaten up the girl badly, the SP said that the girl had sustained minor injuries resulting from her attempts to free herself from the accused. Chandel said that the minor had killed her in apprehension that she might identify him later.
The SP said that about four dozen suspects were rounded up and interrogated on Sunday. After an input that the girl was seen talking to a youngster near the swing, its owner and the accused teenager were rounded up for questioning and the teenager broke down during the process on Monday.
“The accused is a school dropout and had become addicted to porn on his cell phone. This led him to brutal rape and murder,” Chandel said. He was presented before the juvenile board and has been sent to remand home.
In-charge of the Karera police station, Satish Singh Chouhan told THE WEEK that though the school records show the accused to be a minor, the police will be getting an ossification test done to find his actual age. Chouhan also said that on Tuesday, the district administration demolished the illegal portion of the home of the accused in Hathras.
