A deputy tehsildar was arrested in Hyderabad after he allegedly barged into the house of a female IAS officer at midnight, reports said. The accused, identified as Ananth Kumar Reddy, has been sent to judicial custody by a local court.

The incident took place on Thursday when Reddy intruded into the house of IAS officer Smita Sabharwal around 11.45 pm. According to police, the accused told officials that he was facing some career issues and wanted to discuss them with the officer to get some relief or promotion.

Reddy currently works at District Civil Supplies Office in Medchal.

"Sabharwal lived on the first floor of an independent villa. Somehow the man opened the main door, managed to enter the house and reached the first floor after instructing the car driver to wait outside," an officer told news agency ANI.

The security personnel at the house detained both Reddy and his car driver identified as Babu and handed them over to the Jubilee Hills Police.

Sabharwal later took to Twitter to share the “harrowing experience”.

"Had this most harrowing experience, a night back when an intruder broke into my house. I had the presence of mind to deal and save my life. Lessons: no matter how secure you think you are- always check the doors/ locks personally. #Dial100 in emergency," she tweeted.
