The Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by former party chief Rahul Gandhi, today entered Himachal Pradesh after having spent six days travelling through Punjab.

The yatra will spend one day in Himachal Pradesh, a state the Congress won recently. The route of the yatra was changed to include the state in the cross-country march in light of the party's victory in the Assembly polls.

"We changed the route of the yatra for you. We have given less time (to the state). Himachal is getting only one day. We should have given more time to the state. But our plan was to be in Srinagar on January 30, the martyrdom day of Gandhi ji," Rahul said addressing an event organised by the state unit of the party to welcome him.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu along with Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and PCC chief Pratibha Singh welcomed Rahul into Himachal Pradesh in the village of Ghatota, on the border with Punjab. Rahul was accompanied by Sukhu and 40 other MLAs on the yatra through Himachal.

The march on its day-long sojourn through Himachal Pradesh will cover 24 kilometres in Indora tehsil that falls in Kangra district of the state. He is scheduled to address a public meeting at Malot village at the end of the day.
