With a minimum temperature of 1.4 degree Celsius, Delhi is freezing with cold wave conditions. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the national capital has recorded the lowest so far this season.

Cold wave conditions prevailed across North India, including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

The IMD has issued an alert for intense cold wave conditions for the next three days in parts of North India.

Due to fog and low visibility, trains and flights are also delayed. Delhi saw an intense cold wave spell from January 5 to January 9, which is the second longest in the month in a decade, as per IMD.

Meanwhile, the IMD prediction on Sunday said that the minimum temperature is expected to drop around 3 degrees Celsius.

In Rajasthan's Udaipur, schools remain closed till January 18 for students up to Class 8 due to the cold wave conditions. District administration in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur also closed schools till January 17.

According to IMD, the temperature will record 4 degrees Celsius on January 18 giving respite to the Delhiites.

IMD predicted that with the northwesterly winds from the Himalayas over the plains of northwest India, minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-4 degree Celsius over the northwest and adjoining central India during the next two days.
