Kerala CPI(M) mayor Arya Rajendran in Gujarat govt's development posters?

Posters come up amid Kerala BJP's protests against Arya over an appointment row

Political parties have often found themselves in a fix for picking up wrong images to propagate their causes. This time around, it is the turn of the BJP in Gujarat.

The faux pas would have gone unnoticed but for a social media user highlighting it.

Arya Rajendran, the Thiruvananthpuram Mayor, has been featured on Gujarat government postures that also have large size images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The poster from the Rural Development Department highlights Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan and talks about panchayat empowerment through training of panchayat members.

Arya, the youngest Mayor in the country, belongs to the CPI(M).

In the posters, she is seen prominently holding her hand high with closed fist. It is not immediately known where the posters have been put up or how the error crept in. The posters are in Gujarati language. THE WEEK could not independently verify the veracity of the image.

Interestingly, the BJP in Kerala has been targeting the mayor over a range of issues and had recently held days-long protest against her over the issue of a temporary appointment in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation.

Gujarat BJP’s media convener Yagnesh Dave claimed that he was not aware of the posters and said Yamal Vyas (chief BJP spokesperson in Gujarat) might know about it. Vyas, however, could not be reached till the time of filing the report.
