The BJP has stepped up its campaign in poll-bound Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh with it set to release its election manifesto for Himachal Pradesh elections at 10 am on Sunday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be back in poll-bound Gujarat where he will address rallies.
In his first visit to the state after the announcement of the Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public meeting at Nana Pondha in Valsad district.
He will also attend a mass marriage programme in Bhavnagar in the evening, BJP spokesperson Yagnesh Dave was quoted by BJP.
The elections will be held in Gujarat in two phases on December 1 and 5. The counting of votes will be taken up on December 8. This time, the state will witness a triangular contest as Aam Aadmi Party has entered the fray. In the 2017 elections, the BJP won 99 seats and the Congress 77 of the total 182 seats.
Meanwhile, the party is expected to release its election manifesto for Himachal on Sunday. According to the local BJP representatives, party president J P Naddha and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will release the manifesto together.
This comes a day after the Congress released its, which saw the party promising restoration of the old pension scheme, 300 units of free power, a Rs 680-crore StartUp fund, one lakh jobs and Rs 1,500 per month for women between 18 to 60 years.
According to reports, the BJP has incorporated suggestions from the party in its manifesto. It also launched a web portal and WhatsApp group for the same, besides a suggestion box was kept in all major cities and towns.
On Saturday, Modi addressed a rally in Himachal wherein he urged the people not to repeat the "mistake" of changing the government every five years. "If you elect people here who stall development works, nothing will be possible, no matter how much I will try," he said, addressing an election rally in Mandi district.
