In a spine-chilling incident, a 20-year-old college girl was killed after being pushed in front of a moving train by a man in Chennai on Thursday. The accused escaped from the scene and is still on the run, police said.

The incident took place in the afternoon at St. Thomas Mount railway station where Sathya, a BCom student at a private college, was waiting to board the Chennai Beach-bound train. An argument broke out between the girl and the 23-year-old man, identified as Sathish, with whom she was in a relationship earlier.

As the altercation escalated, the man pushed Sathya before a running train and she died on the spot.

According to reports, Sathya's mother is a police constable and her father is a private company employee. She had got engaged last month.

Sathya's parents had filed a police complaint against Sathish at the Mambalam police station a few weeks ago, reported the New Indian Express.

Police have retrieved CCTV footage of the incident and formed special teams to nab the accused. According to a News Minute report, four teams under the Railway Police and three teams led by St Thomas Mount Assistant Commissioner of Law and Order are on the lookout for the accused.
