Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday promised implementation of the old pension scheme, should his party come to power in the elections to be held later this year.

Kejriwal is in Vadodara for a town hall of teachers later in the day.

Delhi chief minister said that government employees are protesting and he would request them to continue with their fight. “If this government (the BJP) accepts your demands then it is fine or else when the government changes after two months then we will fulfill the demands.”

There has been a growing demand for bringing in the old pension scheme.

Gujarat goes to polls by the year's end to elect 182 lawmakers.

Once again exhorting the government employees to work for the AAP, covertly, he said that the government employees have a major role to play in elections. “This government is corrupt and after 27 years in power, there is ego,” he alleged, adding that the AAP is only seeking one chance. If we do not perform well, then do not elect us for the second time, he added.

“I know you cannot work openly. But work for us, internally, by word of mouth, social media…,” he said.

Employees, including ad-hoc, of various government departments, have been raising concerns over their long-pending demands.

Replying to a question about several retired bureaucrats writing to the Election Commission of India about him urging government employees to work for the AAP, Kejriwal said that these retired bureaucrats never raised the issues faced by the employees.

The government officer-turned-politician, who was greeted by a group of people, apparently BJP supporters, at the Vadodara airport with slogans of Modi, Modi, said that the BJP is scared and so naturally it is not going to sit.

“It has been said that there are about 66 seats in the state where the BJP has not lost. However, this time around, it is going to find it difficult,” he said.

He alleged that both the BJP and Congress are against the AAP. The BJP men never protest when Rahul Gandhi comes to Gujarat, he remarked.

Kejriwal was in support of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and held that what is being done against him is mudslinging. He claimed that Mann has achieved what no other chief minister achieved in the last 75 years in Punjab.
