The Supreme Court on Tuesday commenced hearing on plea of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. Sharma seeks revival of her withdrawn petition, protection from arrest, and clubbing of FIRs lodged in several states over her remarks.

SC says it never wanted Nupur Sharma to visit every court for relief.

SC issues notices to states like Delhi, West Bengal, and Maharashtra on plea of Nupur Sharma.
No coercive action be taken against Nupur Sharma, says SC, and fixes her plea for further hearing on August 10.

Suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma Monday moved the Supreme Court with a fresh plea urging protection from arrest as well as the revival of her withdrawn petition seeking clubbing of FIRs lodged in several states over her remarks on the Prophet.

Sharma has also sought expunction of adverse remarks made by a vacation bench of Justices Surya Kant and JB Pardiwala against her on July 1 while refusing to entertain her plea for clubbing of the FIRs, saying she has been receiving death threats after the criticism, according to a lawyer associated with the case.
