Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday outlined the achievements of his government, across two terms, in the past eight years.

Modi was speaking at a rally in Shimla.

Modi said “As a member of a family, connecting with the hopes and aspirations of the family, the family of 130 crore countrymen, this is everything in my life. You are everything in my life and this life is also for you.”

Modi was quoted by ANI as saying “In last 8 years... not even once did I visualise myself as PM. Only when I sign documents, do I have responsibility of PM but as soon as file is gone, I'm no longer a PM... I'm just a pradhan sevak of 130 crore people who're everything in my life and my life is also for you.”

Contrasting his government with previous regimes, Modi said “The government before 2014 had considered corruption as an essential part of the system. The then government had succumbed to corruption instead of fighting it, then the country was watching that the money of the schemes is looted before reaching the needy. But today, discussion is being held about the benefits of Jan Dhan accounts, Trishakti made from Jan Dhan-Aadhaar and mobile. Earlier, there was a compulsion to bear smoke in the kitchen; today, there is a facility to get cylinders from the Ujjwala scheme,” Modi declared

“Be it PM Awas Yojana, scholarship or pension schemes, with the help of technology, we have minimised the scope of corruption. We are trying to give permanent solution to the problems that were earlier assumed as permanent.”

Modi said “Before 2014, there was concern about the security of the country; today, we are proud of surgical strike, air strike. Today our border is more secure than ever.”

Modi added “It is our government that implemented One Rank, One Pension after waiting for four decades, gave arrears money to our ex-servicemen. Every family of Himachal has benefited a lot from this.”

Referring to the culture of vote bank politics, Modi said “Vote bank politics has happened in our country for decades. The politics of creating your own vote bank has done a lot of damage to the country. We are working not to create vote bank, but to build a new India.”
