Northwest and central India will continue to face heatwave in the next few days, but there will be a relief after May 3.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Sunday, said heatwave conditions over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Rajasthan and Telangana will continue on Sunday and Monday.

Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, south UP, Kutch and East Rajasthan will face heatwave on Sunday. "Abatement of heat wave over the region thereafter," the IMD said in a tweet.

There will be heatwave conditions in isolated parts over Vidarbha on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, the Met department said.

Dust storm or thunderstorms are expected in isolated places over Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi between Monday and Wednesday.

The national capital experienced three prolonged heatwaves in April in the absence of periodic light rainfall and thundershowers which typify this time of the year due to lack of active western disturbances.

This year, northwest and central India experienced the hottest April 122 years—the average maximum temperature in April this year touched 35.9 degrees Celsius and 37.78 degrees Celsius respectively.
